KILLARNEY MOTOR SHOW A FEAST FOR PETROLHEADS

Thousands of Capetonians poured through the gates of Killarney International Raceway for the fourth annual Killarney Motor Show powered by Kfm 94.5 on Sunday 8 December to find the circuit crowded with row upon row of new cars and motorcycles, classics, customs and modified cars, and literally hundreds of street and ‘stance’ cars, their suspension lowered to within centimetres of the tar.

There was little time to just stand and stare, however, because there was so much to see and do with the Cape Helldrivers racing round the Tar Oval, the E36 Cup drivers screeching sideways around the Extreme Arena with show visitors in their passengers seats, brand new vehicles navigating the test circuit with show visitors at the wheel, trials riders doing the impossible as a matter of course over man-made obstacles on the back straight, and live music, fine food and (very welcome) ice-cold drinks around every corner.\

The funfair in the pits paddock had exciting rides for children of all ages, wannabe Lewis Hamiltons lined up to experience the Karting circuit at the wheel of powerful four-stroke karts, while dozens of stalls offered every variety of motor-related merchandise you could think of (and a few you wouldn’t) and multiple former Supadrift Series champion Jason Webb and current title-holder Christopher Long thrilled spectators with a classic display of synchronised drifting, as perfectly in step as Baryshnikov and Hines in White Nights.

There was no way you could see it all and do it all, as the 2019 Killarney Motor show lived up to its billing as the biggest motor show in the Western Cape. Many show visitors said they were already making plans so as to take in as much as possible of the action at the 2020 Killarney Motor Show – see you there!
